From Genesis 2:1-3 (see above), it is clear that the Seventh-day didn't start out
as an exclusively Jewish holy day. After all, Abraham was the first Jew - and he
didn't come along until about 2000 B.C. He certainly wasn't in the picture at the
creation of the world - which is when God blessed and sanctified the Seventh-day.
1. Did the Seventh-day Sabbath BECOME an exclusively Jewish holy day at some later point
in the Bible? There are only four things the Bible refers to as belonging exclusively to
the Jews. Lets identify each of them.
1) The ______ of the Jews (
Acts 10:22)

2) The ______ of the Jews (
Acts 10:39)

2. Throughout the entire Bible, though the Seventh-day Sabbath is referred to again
and again, it is NEVER once spoken of as belonging to the Jews or to any other group
exclusively.
The Bible does say that God made the Sabbath FOR someone, however.
Mark 2:27
Who did God make the Sabbath for?

The Seventh-day Sabbath was given to MAN (mankind). Interestingly enough,
it was instituted at the SAME time that God gave us the institution of marriage.
Both date back to the dawn of our earth's history. No one questions that marriage
is still a valid Christian practice. The Sabbath, however, is not as obvious
to the world today.
3. We've determined that the Seventh-day Sabbath was never Jewish, according to the
Bible, but we haven't finished our task. Is it Christian?
The word "Christian" implies that it has to do with Christ. But we have learned that
the Seventh-day Sabbath dates back to when our world was created.
So, if the Sabbath is to be considered "Christian", it had to have been
instituted by Jesus Christ, Himself. Read about Who created the world.

4. The above text already gave some dead-give-away clues to the identity of the
"WORD", Who created the world and sanctified the Seventh-day Sabbath. But to
be sure of the "Word's" identity, beyond a shadow of doubt, we
can read about Who created our world in another place.
Hebrews 1:1-2, 8-10
