The Lighted Way

Part 8: The Ten Commandments
In the New Testament

Naturally one could assume, that if Christ's death had - in effect - nailed the ten commandments to the cross, there would be no mention of keeping them in the New Testament. But the first rule of honest Bible study is to assume nothing - rather, let's look for ourselves and see whether or not the 10 commandments are present in the New Testament portion of Scripture.

Having seen the ten commandments listed one-by-one in the New Testament, we can only come to one honest explanation. Obviously, the ten commandments were not done away with on the cross. They are STILL IN EFFECT. It is not hard to accept that we shouldn't kill, or lie, or steal or commit adultry. Why do we have such a hard time with the Seventh-day Sabbath?

Some teach that Colossians chapter 2 will undermine all that we have learned it these 8 studies... Don't you buy into that idea, friend. First, always know that the Bible does not contradict itself. Where a contradiction seems to occur is a place that we must simply study more thoroughly. Studying Scripture upon Scripture, our next study will address the God's truth about Colossians chapter 2.
